A small brief about your project
Termux is a terminal emulator for Android. We provide pre-compiled software for Android so that you can use your mobile phone as a full fledged Linux environment. In minutes you can get a development environment setup with most major programming languages.
One FOSS maintainer lesson for your younger self
I started quite young with FOSS, so not sure if I would advice a younger version of me or else I wouldn't be me :)
Why do you do it? Why do you bother maintaining a FOSS project?
It all started with a Discord bot being not able to kept up to date with discord.js due to out of date Node.js. With help from other folks I managed to update Node.js and eventually took maintainership of it, and just kept on doing it for fun.
If your repo had a theme song, what would it be?
The Middle by Zedd
Which file in your project would you most like to set on fire?
Most of it, cause it's bash
What's your open-source villain origin story?
Got lots of support from folks who contributed and maintained @termux, helped me land one of the first PRs, land larger changes and instill confidence in teenage me who was just getting started.
If you had to use one emoji to convey what it is like to be a FOSS maintainer, what would it be?
